We recently sat down with a very special team member, Nancy Muya.
Nancy is a senior researcher and data analyst at Leverage Experts (LE). She heads the research and analysis team whose focus lies on the relationship between disruptive technologies and the transformation of business models in various industries. This includes the digitisation of the healthcare sector, the evolving crypto eco-system, and the application of AI technologies.
Nancy is passionate about using data to drive innovation and draws on her experience as a care professional and managerial positions in East African and GCC healthcare systems. She holds an MBA from the Quantic School of Business and Technology in Washington, D.C., as well as a Stanford University qualification in AI in the Healthcare System.
We think she’s brilliant, but don’t take our word for it. Let’s see what she has to say.
LE: How is a day in the life of Nancy Muya?
Nancy: Usually my day starts around 5:30 a.m., I am not a morning person, but getting up early is something I have become intentional about. I can either meditate, hit the gym or read, but I try as much as possible to keep off the screen until around 7 a.m.
My workday starts around 8a.m, I try to keep to my schedule for the better part of the day. Since I spend a lot of time on the screen, I take short breaks to take a walk, grab a cup of coffee, read a book or catch up with my loved ones.
I enjoy spending time after work doing or practising sports i.e., biking, swimming, walking etc., I also enjoy cooking, it calms me down and is a good distraction after a long day.
I consider the weekends as my ‘me time’. I spend some time indoors reading, watching documentaries and sometimes movies, but I also go diving and attend some social events.
LE: What inspired you to pursue a career as a data analyst?
Nancy: My journey towards being a data analyst started in my early career as an Occupational Therapist, this is when I realised the value of data in the care and management of my clients.
As I continued to expand my knowledge and skills, it was clear that I would get better results if I maximised the use of the data available. I started collecting, analysing and using data in my OT practice, and I was able to excel and grow in my career. Armed with passion and some experience, I enrolled in school to learn and improve my skills; I have not looked back since then. I enjoy working as an analyst .
LE: How do your department and job make a difference?
Nancy: The research and analysis team supports LE consultants with research services, authors studies, market reports and provides industry insights facilitating our consultants to provide data-driven decisions and recommendations to their clients.
LE: What excited you the most about the opening of Leverage Experts’ new office?
Nancy: The opportunity to be everything I have wanted to be, to find and redefine Nancy.
LE: Do you have a mentor who inspires you?
Nancy: Well, I cannot say I have only one mentor, but throughout my life, I have met and interacted with some extraordinary people, they guided, nurtured, and pushed me beyond what I considered ‘my limits’ and continue to do so to this day.
It’s clear that Nancy strives to be her best self so that she can provide successful results to her clients. If you want to contact Nancy or keep up with her connect with her on LinkedIn.
